Cancellation policy

This policy explains how to cancel your Student Story subscription, what happens to your account, and how your data is handled after a subscription ends. Cancellation is self-service and always under your full control.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Whether you are on a monthly or annual plan, the following terms apply to your subscription management:

  • Cancel Anytime: You can cancel your subscription at any time directly from your account page.
  • Renewal Reminders: We will send you an email notification before each billing renewal date.
  • Access Through Your Term: After canceling, you will continue to have full access to your documents and features until the end of your current billing cycle.
  • Billing & Refunds: Both monthly and annual subscriptions provide immediate access to consumable resources and are non-refundable once activated. View our Refund Policy for full details.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A SUBSCRIPTION ENDS

When a paid subscription ends (either through cancellation or non-renewal) your account remains active, but your paid access ceases.

  • Your account moves into the Explore Version.
  • Products you have subscribed to are no longer accessible.
  • Your saved work and associated data enters a 60-day retention period before permanent removal. During this time, you can instantly delete all data at any point with a single click from your account page, or leave it stored for 60 days in case you decide to resubscribe (more details below).

Post-Subscription Account (Explore Version)

The Explore Version is a placeholder account state that applies after a subscription ends. It allows you to:

  • Sign in to your account (login credentials remain active)
  • Manage subscription settings.
  • Manage data retention settings.
  • Manage contact information.
  • Manage billing and view purchase history.

DATA RETENTION AFTER CANCELLATION

There is an optional 60-Day data retention period after your subscription ends.
After cancellation, your data is kept for up to 60 days before permanent deletion.
During this time:

  • Your data is securely stored and attached to your account but is only accessible with a current subscription.
  • Resubscribing within 60 days restores your history and documents as if your subscription never ended.

Managing Your Data: From your account page during the 60-day period, you may:

  • Delete all data immediately with a single click (leaving only your login credentials), or
  • Do nothing, keeping your data stored in case you decide to return.

Automatic Deletion: If you do not resubscribe or manually delete your data:

  • All retained data is automatically and permanently deleted at the end of the 60-day period.
  • Deleted data cannot be recovered.

HOW TO CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION

  1. Log in to your account page.
  2. Select “My Subscriptions”.
  3. Choose the subscription you wish to end.
  4. Press the “Cancel” button in the top right corner.
  5. (Optional) Provide feedback or select “Skip”.
  6. Confirm your request.
  7. You will receive a confirmation email summarizing your cancellation.

ENTERPRISE ACCOUNTS

Enterprise accounts are governed by individual agreements. Cancellation terms, billing, and data retention policies may differ. Please refer to your enterprise contract for details.
